Cowboy Fast Draw Overview
Cowboy Fastdraw is a competitive shooting sport. We use
real fire arms and live amunitinon with wax projectiles.
Our equipment is period acurate and that period is pre 1900.
Our guns are single action Revolvers chambered for 45 colt, with no
exterior modification. That means no aluminum or titanium barrels, no bent hammers and no carving up the triger guard. It's
a stock gun. We also use period acurate sights (when we use sights). Doc Holliday didn't have a laser sight with star light
scope and neither do we.
Cowboy Fast Draw is a timed event where two or more competitors draw
in a light signal for the best time from light to impact of the bullet on the target.
Our rigs (belts and holsters) are period acurate as well. Leather construction
with no metal liners. Note: We do not carry live ammo (other than wax projectile) on the compitition site. So if the belt
has bullet loops the are either empty or have dummy rounds. It's a safety thing.
Our holsters are strong side draw only. That means no cross draw, no
shoulder holsters and no double boot rigs. Again it's a safety thing. We cant have ya shooting the folks behind you if ya
discharge in your holster.
We do have a dress code. Western boots, moccasins or period accurate
shoes are acceptable. Clothing shall be period accurate aswell. That doesn't mean that one must look like Buffalow Bill but
you are certanly welcome to. Jeans and a western style shirt are fine. (Western style shirt is buttoned front with a callar
and a seam that spans the shoulders accrost the back). Any other pre 1900 and post 1800 garb is generaly accepted.
Cowboy fast draw is all about having a good time. But we are doing
it with real guns so safety and common sense is a must. For further details have a look at out rule book at:
